ICE TROUBLES

We had our snow - now we are dealing with the ice. We have about 1 1/2 inches of ice on top of the snow that everyone is having to deal with. This morning we watched from our kitchen window cars trying to make it up the modest hill of our street only to watch many of them slide back down. It's solid ice.

I can work from home for the next few days since I have internet access and can use that, but Ed will have to go in to work in the morning. He decided to try to shovel the snow/ice off the driveway to see if it will make it a little easier to melt and get our in the morning. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

SNOWBIRDS

YES...we are snowbirds! We got 4 inches of snow (and ice) last night. We are definitely inside for the weekend. It is sooooooo cold, 9 degrees.

Church services cancelled, and malls closed at 2:00 yesterday. I was lucky to be able to work from home yesterday when the snow started, and Ed is off on Friday's so we didn't have to venture out in the bad weather.

More pictures in the shutterfly folder to the right. Stay warm!

San Diego Trip

What an adventure! I headed out last Wed to fly to San Diego for a business trip. It was raining in Nashville when we left which made for a bumpy ride out. It was a very turbulent ride into California because they too were having heavy rains and high wind. Thursday didn't let up at all. I was told that we got over 11 inches (5 inches is normal for the year for San Diego) and winds gusting up to 85 mph. It was just horrible. We were lucky that our hotel rooms were on the 2nd floor on the backside of the complex. May of the first floor rooms were all flooded. More flooding pics in my shutterfly album to the right.

Friday morning - my girlfriend Kelly (friends since the first grade) picked me up and took me to her house in Laguna Hills. I was SOOOOOO excited to see her. She left Nashville when we were 13 and have been blessed to have been able to stay in touch these 30+ years. I brought her some "goo goo" candies from home - a treat only for us Nashvillian's. I got to meet her wonderful boys, see her beautiful home, and had the privilege of meeting her husband Doug. I just can't say enough how much fun it was to spend time with her. Love ya Kelly!!! (more pics of us in the shutterfly album to the right)

Friday night, Kelly brought me to San Marcos where I got to meet up with my nephew Ken and his wife Christy. We went out for dinner and caught up on all the latest news.

Saturday brought on the sunshine. They took me to the beach where we strolled along the shore and had the opportunity to see some seals and their baby pups. We had a great lunch, and again caught up on all the happenings within the family. I also had the privilege of seeing Ken's dental office. Its a great clinic in a perfect location. Ken and I talked in great lengths about marketing and all that fun stuff. (of course being a marketing director - I had to put my two cents worth in ) We had so much fun together! I loved their apartment and the wonderful hospitality. Was even treated to some home-made waffles - you go Chirsty! What a fantastic trip = just too short. Lots of pics in my shutterfly album to the right.

It's Snowing!

We didn't get a lot of accumulation but did get a good dusting on the ground. Now Jillian on the other hand has had several inches for weeks. Thank heavens for Ryan and the truck for getting her to and from every-where. She like me - just don't drive in the snow. (he he )

Just please melt before Monday !

What the future holds ???

I wish I knew. Life has finally settled down a little these last few days. With the holidays behind us, work settling down to a manageable pace (I think) I have been able to get back to some "me" time at home. Now I know "me" time sounds selfish - but when you are OCD with having all your papers in their place, bills paid and scanned, folders updated, computer document files saved and then backed up, file cabinets organized for 2010 etc etc - OK I think you know where I am going and what I mean. YES - my desk is finally organized and ready for 2010!!!!!!

I'm just about ready to go over the budget with Ed. (ha ha ha) his favorite thing to do every year. Ed hates doing anything with money or paying bills, but I insist that we sit down at least once a year to talk about money goals for the year, big expenditures that we are anticipating, etc etc. He just hates doing it and always ends the conversation with "just tell me how much money we need to get through the end of the year". I have to laugh. God is good , and I remind him that he is the one that will see that we are taken care of.

I'm not much on resolutions. I like to concentrate on the momment and make the most out of every day. There are lots of things on our plate this year.

January - nothing in particular, but I do have a work trip to San Diego

February - my 45th birthday on the 3rd

March - Spring Break - both the girls are on break at the same time this year - Yeah! off we go
- work trip to Atlanta, GA

April - Jillian's 22nd birthday

May - Jillian's College graduation May 9th
- work trip to Jacksonville, Florida

June - Mission trip back to the Philippines

Aug - Ed and my 24th wedding anniversary

Sep - Ed's 63rd birthday

Nov - Christie's 21st birthday and Thanksgiving with the family

Dec - Christmas with the family

Happy New Year

Ed and I spent our New Year in the mountains of Johnson City with our daughter Jillian. She reserved a hotel at the Carnegie - a 4 diamond hotel (which she just happens to work at) for a great rate. We hate a great dinner at Wellingtons with her and Ryan and wrung in the new year with sparking cider and chocolates. (You will have to check out our photos in the shutterfly folder to the right) It was very cold, but I prayed hard enough to avoid the snow. We had a very leisurely weekend with Jillian and then traveled back home on Sunday. Happy New Year!
