First Full Week of Work

WOW! It is so exciting starting a new job - with new responsibilities, new opportunities, and new challenges. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out which pile on my desk needs my attention the most. My boss David is wonderful - very supporting and encouraging. One of the things that I like the most about my job is that EVERYONE enjoys being at work. You can sense it when you walk in the door in the door in the morning and when you walk around the plant during the day - very refreshing!

One thing that I have noticed is that this new job has majorly altered my day to day activities at home....I am still trying to get acclimated to the different hours and being inside an office as to being on the road all the time with my last job. Keeping up with my blog which is very important to me and checking email every day - has been a bigger challenge than I thought....not to mention relaxing when I get home and doing my daily home routines...like watching "Ellen" ha ha

I know everything will fall into place... and I look forward to Monday already

Fun times with Christie

I am so glad that Ed and I had the opportunity to go visit with Christie before I started my new job. We flew down Friday morning and she picked us up from the airport. We dropped her off at school since she still had a class to go to and we checked into our hotel. Just a few hours later - we met up again and had a great conversation over lunch. I fussed at her for being so skinny. She swears that she is eating - but to me...she is so thin.

As it turns out - our nephew Billy was in Tampa for a meeting - and he met up with us at Christies dorm. It was the first time that he has been there. It was great seeing him too. We went to dinner and we all talked well into the night and caught up on all the happenings.

Saturday we decided to go to Busch Gardens for the day. Christie had a pass and we had discount tickets to get in. It was a beautiful day, in the 70's with a nice breeze. We strolled through the park and Christie took tons of pictures of the animals. We didn't venture on the water slides or roller coasters - but still enjoyed the day and each others company. (pics in my shutterfly folder to the right)

It was too expensive to fly out on Sunday so we got to spend another day here. Christie got a new job working at "Tillys" - a clothing store - in the mall. We dropped her off since she had to go in for orientation - and Ed and I went shopping. I still had some money from my gift cards given to me for my birthday - so we went looking. I can't believe the sales tax is so low in Florida - especially compared to Tenn. After a short few hours - we joined back up with Christie and had lunch at the Cheesecake factory. We later went back to her apartment - took a short nap, then did the necessary grocery shopping for the week.

After that - we went to a nearby bowling alley to play a few games ....yes...I broke out of my slump and played one game. See...the last time I went bowling...I landed flat on my back...how ....we still can't figure it out...but bowling is not my favorite pass time...but I wanted to spend time with Christie so I went and bowled. After one game...I was done for the night. Ed and Christie battled it out for the last few games and had a blast.

Monday was back to reality. We ate breakfast at Christie's apartment and met a friend of hers "X". He was a very nice young man and we enjoyed meeting him. We ate a quick breakfast and then off to the airport to catch a flight home. Ed and I both had to work Monday - so like I said - back to reality.

I am so glad that I got to see Christie. She will not be able to come home for spring break so it will be May before I get to see her again.

Flying to Tampa

Things just fall in to place when there is a plan....not necessarily my plan...but you know who's plan I'm talking about!

With the new job starting just around the corner, I wanted to go see Christie in Tampa before I start working, since I will not have any time off anytime soon and Christie will not be able to come home for Spring break - because she will be working.

We had some unused airfare for Southwest that we applied toward our discounted tickets so we are off to go see her this morning! I can't wait!!!!!

Jillian will be coming home for some of her spring break...so I will get to see her in a few weeks.

I will blog when we get back and include all the pics - you know me - I will take lots of pics while we are there.

Unusual Meeting

Today I had a very unusual meeting...this may get a little wordy...but it's great and worth reading.

As you may remember from a previous post - I got a new job. Well, I was so excited to tell everyone, that I emailed several people who have been asking me often how the job search was going....one of those being my previous boss Leigh (who I still love and is a dear friend today) This email told them who I was working for, what I would be doing, what the company does etc. Leigh called me as soon as she got the email - congratulating me on the new job. In this conversation - she also mentioned that she was getting ready to purchase some radiology furniture this week and was trying to get everything together to do that. The new company that I work for SELLS RADIOLOGY FURNITURE! That is one of the reasons why I was hired - to promote this line and gets sales up! How ironic is that ????

I told her that even though I was not "officially" working yet, I would call my new boss and have him come with me over to meet her so we could give her a quote on our furniture. This would allow me to learn about this furniture line by watching and seeing what questions he would ask so that I can turn around and train others to sell it. She was very excited and said YES - I will meet you Wed morning. I told my new boss David about all this and he couldn't believe the opportunity.

David and I went over to Radiology Alliance (my previous employer - who laid me off) to meet with Leigh. Talking about weird - me introducing my new boss to my old boss! When we got into her office Leigh told David - "you just don't have a clue how much we miss Teresa". And David replied - "I'm sorry for your loss, but I am glad that we have her now!" It was so weird and akward to have both my bosses in the same room talking about me. :)

After much ado about the furniture, Leigh took us over to a site to look at the furniture that they already had - what they liked, what they didn't like and what they needed now. It was a great meeting and I learned so very much from David. Leigh said that she was going to postpone her decision to get the furniture till I got back next week - and "officially" started work with the new company. This would give David time to work up quotes for her immediate needs and put together a desk that she can actually see at our warehouse next week. I can't wait to start work on Monday to see what he has done!

Wouldn't it be ironic - if my first sale is for the company that laid me off ?????? Stay posted and I will tell you how it all goes down.... :)

I got a job!

Yes, I am officially employed again as a national sales manager for Techno-aide - a radiology supply company. They make all their products in a factory here in Nashville. They have just added some new products to their line and are in need of help promoting them to the correct markets. The person who hired me is a friend that I worked with 7 years ago when I was sales manager for X-ray Medical Electronics. When I was laid off, I sent him and a few other close friends my resume - and he said that as soon as he knew I was available for employment he wanted to hire me. They did not have a position available, but created one so I could be added to the team.

This company was founded in 1970. The founder of Techno-Aide began manufacturing x-ray identification markers and x-ray copiers in his dining room under the name of X-Ray of Tennessee, Inc. As Chief Technologist at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, he had a keen awareness of which products could "aide the technologist" in becoming a more efficient professional. The business was moved to rented office space in 1979, but it was soon outgrown. An expanding product line and growing customer base forced three additional moves over the next five years to larger facilities as the company became recognized nationally as a supplier of x-ray accessory products.

In 1984, Stumb Metal Products, a local metal fabrication shop who had been manufacturing custom x-ray carts and cabinets for the company, was purchased. Later that same year, the metal shop and the x-ray business were moved into a new facility so all operations could exist under one roof.

Originally, Techno-Aide products were sold directly to hospitals and clinics. Soon, dealers around the country became interested in and wanted to represent the company, and the name X-Ray of Tennessee no longer fit. So, in 1986, the name was changed to Techno-Aide, which had been the trade name for the line of x-ray markers and the company began focusing on its dealer network as the primary source for sales and support.

During the next eleven years, Techno-Aide prospered through a renewed sales and marketing effort and a much needed overhaul in the manufacturing facility. Superior service and the highest quality products were the results.
In 2003, Techno-Aide, Inc., was purchased by Hudson Valley IV, LLC, of New York. Proof once again that a long list of loyal and satisfied customers has been the key to strong and steady growth and success. Techno-Aide has always maintained the philosophy of focusing on the needs of radiology technologists and the medical community. Their top quality products, innovative styles and superior customer service are the reasons our customers and dealers are solid in their loyalty and are proud to represent the Techno-Aide line of products. Their pledge is to do everything possible to keep their customers coming back to Techno-Aide, time and time again.

It will be exciting to join this team as we venture into newer horizons.

Happy Valentines Day!

What a great weekend! Ed and I decided to start celebrating the Valentine weekend on Friday. We went to PF Changs for dinner (with my $50 gift card that I won from work last Dec) and then went to get some Schokolade Chocolate Covered Strawberries to take home for desert.

Saturday, we went to church and then went to some friends house for a valentines lunch. It was a lot of fun enjoying the company of other couples!

And yes...we exchanged the ever so popular "Valentine" cards :)
